Unfortunately, the civil system does not allow a jury to award anything other than monetary damages. While we never expect a person or institute to change a condition that presented a danger, every once in while it happens. A few of the changes we feel can take credit for are:
- A hospital changing their protocol for the administration of anti-coagulatin medications.
- Criminal charges brought against reckless driver.
- A doctor who will not prescribe a Quinolone to a patient who is on Coumadin therapy.
No one wants to bring or be involved in a lawsuit. One of the common factors we hear from our clients is that they have chosen to pursue a lawsuit solely because they don’t want anyone else to have to go through what they have had to endure because of the negligent acts of others.
